The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued a notice to AB Hotels Ltd, which operates Radisson Blu Hotel at Mahipalpur in Delhi, after finding multiple food safety, hygiene and maintenance deficiencies during inspection.
New Delhi, October 16 — The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notice to AB Hotels Ltd, operator of the Radisson Blu Hotel at Mahipalpur, for failing to comply with prescribed food safety and hygiene standards.
The hotel has been directed to take immediate corrective measures and submit a detailed action-taken report, supported by documentary and photographic evidence wherever applicable.
FSSAI said failure to comply with the directions could invite further regulatory action, including suspension of the food safety licence.
According to the food regulator, inspectors found poor maintenance of premises and equipment. The deficiencies included rusted machinery, freezer leakage, inadequate refrigeration and temperature monitoring, along with problems related to ventilation, flooring and lighting.
The inspection also found shortcomings in cleaning and sanitisation. FSSAI noted stagnant water, drainage problems and deficiencies in food-waste management.
Pest-control measures were also found inadequate, with inspectors observing cockroach and fly activity on the premises.
The regulator also raised concerns over food procurement and receiving practices. According to FSSAI, fungal-affected and deteriorated fruits and vegetables had been received, while records related to approved vendors and food traceability were inadequate.
Checks on the suitability of cooking oil were also not being carried out as required.
FSSAI said cooking oils with Total Polar Compound values of 31 and 24.4 were found in use in the NYC kitchen.
The authority further flagged improper segregation of raw and cooked food, vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, allergenic and non-allergenic foods, as well as food and non-food products.
Food handlers were also found working without proper protective practices. According to the regulator, some employees were not wearing gloves or hairnets, while jewellery and long nails were also observed.
FSSAI licences were not prominently displayed, and the regulator recorded deficiencies relating to compliance with licence conditions and the coverage of food business activities.
The hotel has now been asked to correct the deficiencies and submit evidence of the measures taken.
