Maruti, Hyundai See Strong Dhanteras Demand; Festive Vehicle Deliveries Gain Momentum
Maruti Suzuki expects to deliver nearly 30,000 vehicles on Dhanteras, while Hyundai is targeting around 16,000 deliveries during Dhanteras and the first day of Diwali. Maruti has already recorded festive retail sales of more than 4 lakh vehicles since Ganesh Chaturthi.
New Delhi, November 6 — India’s passenger vehicle market is witnessing strong festive-season demand, with leading automakers Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai reporting robust bookings and deliveries around Dhanteras and Diwali.
Maruti Suzuki India expects to deliver close to 30,000 vehicles on Dhanteras, backed by a strong order book.
The country’s largest carmaker currently has around 2.52 lakh pending bookings, indicating continued demand beyond the key festive buying day.
Last year, Maruti delivered around 50,000 vehicles during Dhanteras, but the festival was spread across two days — from the afternoon of October 18 to the afternoon of October 19, 2025.
Hyundai targets 16,000 deliveries
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) also expects strong festive deliveries.
The automaker expects to deliver around 16,000 vehicles during Dhanteras and the first day of Diwali on November 6-7.
According to Hyundai MD and CEO Tarun Garg, the expected deliveries are nearly 14% higher than last year.
He said Dhanteras and Diwali remain among the most auspicious occasions for customers to bring home a new vehicle, with strong consumer demand continuing this year.
Maruti festive sales cross 4 lakh units
Maruti said the strong demand is not limited to Dhanteras alone.
From Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14 to November 6, the automaker recorded retail sales of more than 4 lakh vehicles.
During the corresponding festive period last year, Maruti had sold around 3.46 lakh units.
Despite strong demand, Maruti said it has managed to serve customers while its dealer network is carrying inventory equivalent to only around 11 days of sales.
The company expects the festive momentum to continue beyond Dhanteras.
Maruti is targeting deliveries of at least 70,000 vehicles between Dhanteras on November 6 and Labh Pancham on November 14, a festival particularly observed in Gujarat.
During the same period last year, the company had delivered close to 60,000 vehicles.
The latest numbers indicate that festive buying continues to provide strong support to India’s passenger vehicle market, with both Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai expecting higher customer deliveries during the key Dhanteras-Diwali period.
