The conference is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from October 23 to 25. According to data released by the organisers, the geographical diversity of registrations reflects growing international interest in Indian rice varieties. Bangladesh has recorded the highest number of registrations, with 336 buyers. Benin follows with 179 buyers, while Nigeria has registered 177 participants. Other major markets include the United Arab Emirates, Nepal, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and South Africa. The strong participation from African countries is expected to create new opportunities for Indian rice exporters. The Gulf and Southeast Asia have also emerged as important markets for further trade engagement. The conference is being positioned as a business platform aimed at connecting international buyers with Indian exporters, millers and service providers. An app-enabled B2B matchmaking system will allow participants to identify and schedule targeted meetings based on rice varieties, product specifications, volumes and market requirements. The objective is to move beyond general networking and create commercially meaningful business engagements. One of the major sessions at BIRC 2026 will examine the global rice market outlook for 2027, including possible developments in global demand, supply, prices and trade. The conference will also feature business-focused knowledge sessions covering market opportunities, crop surveys, price forecasting, documentation, insurance, shipping, quality, certification and value-added rice products. BIRC 2026 will also include the launch of Rice Sector Vision 2047, an innovation showcase and several experience zones covering different aspects of the rice ecosystem. On October 25, the event will additionally host a public-facing Rice Festival. With registrations crossing 3,300 buyers from 138 countries, the conference is expected to provide Indian rice exporters with a major platform to explore new markets, develop trade routes and establish long-term international business relationships.
Zomato Bans Analogue Dairy Dishes
Platform adopts zero-tolerance food policy Key Highlights News Story New Delhi, August 31, 2026: Food delivery platform Zomato has announced a zero-tolerance policy on the sale of dishes containing analogue cheese, analogue paneer and other analogue dairy products by restaurants listed on its platform. The company said dishes already declared by restaurant partners as containing analogue dairy products have been delisted with immediate effect. Restaurants that fail to comply with the policy could also face removal from the platform. Analogue dairy products use alternative or cheaper ingredients while attempting to replicate the appearance and characteristics of traditional dairy products. Zomato said the initiative is aimed at improving transparency, food quality and customer confidence. Restaurant partners have been asked to transition to natural dairy products where possible. Where an immediate transition is not feasible, restaurants have been asked to remove menu items containing analogue dairy products from the platform. The company has also instructed restaurant partners to review product labels and ingredient declarations provided by suppliers. Zomato said accurate representation of food products listed on the platform is an important requirement under the new policy. The company said it reserves the right to delist restaurants found to be non-compliant, in addition to taking other actions available under its policies and applicable law. The platform may also seek to recover losses, costs or expenses resulting from the delivery of non-compliant products to customers. The move comes amid increased attention on food safety and product quality in the restaurant and hospitality sector.
