Nestle SA sees significant headroom to expand its noodles business in India, already Maggi’s largest global market, as the company looks to deepen category penetration and gain further market share.
New Delhi, October 22 — Nestle SA sees strong growth potential for its noodles business in India, which is already the company’s largest market globally for Maggi.
Global CEO Philipp Navratil said India remains one of the company’s most important noodles markets and still offers considerable scope for further expansion.
Nestle currently sells Maggi noodles across India and several other Asian markets, but management believes category penetration and market share can rise further in India.
Navratil said the company already has a well-established noodles business across its Asia, Oceania and Africa (AOA) zone, particularly in India, Malaysia and Singapore.
He added that Nestle sees significant room to drive additional growth through higher consumption and stronger market share.
India remains particularly important for Maggi.
According to Nestle’s FY26 annual report, the country consumed more than 5.7 billion servings of Maggi, making it the brand’s largest market globally.
Maggi noodles also maintained its market leadership position in India.
Nestle is also planning to expand its noodles business outside Asia.
Navratil said the company has ambitious plans for Europe and the Americas, supported by changing consumer behaviour.
He said consumers are increasingly moving between traditional meals and smaller, more convenient eating occasions, making noodles an attractive category for future expansion.
Nestle’s broader business also recorded healthy growth in the September quarter of 2026.
The Swiss food and beverages major reported total sales of 22.8 billion Swiss francs, with organic growth of 4%.
This included 2.8% real internal growth and 1.1% pricing growth.
India was one of the strongest-performing markets within Nestle’s AOA region.
Chief Financial Officer Anna Manz said India delivered 20% organic growth during the quarter, while the Middle East and North Africa, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore also posted double-digit growth.
Nestle India had also recently reported a 35.81% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹1,009.61 crore for the September quarter of FY27.
Revenue from product sales rose 20.45% to ₹6,782.17 crore, supported by double-digit volume growth.
Nestle India operates across noodles, dairy products, confectionery, coffee and nutrition, with Maggi continuing to remain one of its most important consumer brands.
