Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s October 2PM Modi Visits Varanasi and Bhubaneswar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on October 25, inaugurating a garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi and a new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute near Bhubaneswar. The visit also included an Indian Air Force aerial display at Varanasi’s Namo Ghat, marking the force’s 94th anniversary.
In Varanasi, Modi inaugurated Arvind Limited’s garment manufacturing facility, a project aimed at strengthening India’s textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem. The unit is expected to support industrial development in eastern Uttar Pradesh and generate employment opportunities, particularly for women. The facility is also intended to connect locally manufactured garments with international markets through the company’s established global customer base.
The inauguration reflects Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to attract industrial investment and expand manufacturing-led growth beyond established industrial centres. The project could support local skill development and create opportunities across garment production and related supply chains as operations expand.
Modi also attended the Indian Air Force’s Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026 at Namo Ghat. Held under the theme “Wings over Ganges”, the event featured aircraft including the Tejas, Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI and Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, alongside transport aircraft. Aircraft from the Indian Navy and Indian Army also participated, highlighting coordination among the three services.
The Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and Sarang Helicopter Display Team performed during the programme, showcasing precision flying, coordinated manoeuvres and aviation capabilities.
In Odisha, Modi inaugurated the RBI’s new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in the Bhubaneswar region. The infrastructure is designed to support the central bank’s computing requirements and strengthen the technological systems underpinning India’s financial sector. It will host critical payment and settlement systems and other major RBI initiatives in a secure and resilient environment.
The data centre has received Tier IV certification from the Uptime Institute, a recognised benchmark for infrastructure reliability and operational resilience. The facility is expected to support the growing demands of digital financial services and strengthen the technological foundation of India’s increasingly digital economy.
The accompanying Cybersecurity Training Institute will focus on specialised training, research and capability development in cybersecurity and enterprise technology. Its areas of interest include artificial intelligence, quantum computing and other emerging technologies relevant to banking and financial services.
The three engagements brought together manufacturing, defence aviation and financial technology. Their broader significance lies in expanding industrial capacity, supporting employment and strengthening the digital infrastructure needed to serve India’s growing economy.
