Maruti Suzuki has crossed 50,000 cumulative electric vehicle exports since August 2025, with the e VITARA accounting for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports during April-September 2026.
New Delhi, October 29: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Thursday announced that its cumulative exports of Made-in-India electric vehicles had crossed 50,000 units since global shipments began in August 2025. The milestone strengthens the automaker’s position in India’s electric passenger vehicle export market, with Europe remaining its largest overseas destination.
The company’s electric SUV, the e VITARA, is exported to nearly 50 countries, including the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. According to Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi, Maruti Suzuki accounted for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports between April and September 2026, retaining its position as the country’s leading EV exporter in the first half of FY2026-27.
Production of the e VITARA began at the company’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat in August 2025. The model was developed for sale in more than 100 countries, with the facility serving as the exclusive manufacturing base for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle.
The Hansalpur manufacturing facility has recently expanded its annual production capacity to one million vehicles, making it the first Suzuki manufacturing site globally to reach that scale at a single location. The company has invested Rs 25,288.7 crore in the facility, which accounted for nearly 47% of Maruti Suzuki’s total overseas shipments in FY2025-26.
The export milestone highlights the growing role of India’s automotive manufacturing sector in supplying electric vehicles to international markets. Maruti Suzuki’s expansion of EV shipments also reflects its efforts to strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing and export hub.
