Google Pay Shopping Feature: Google Pay is expanding beyond digital payments in India with the introduction of a new personalised fashion and lifestyle shopping experience. Announced on November 2, 2026, the feature allows users to explore fashion trends, discover clothing products and virtually try on selected outfits directly within the Google Pay app.
The company has started piloting the experience with a limited number of users in India. The initiative aims to make fashion discovery more convenient by combining Google’s shopping technology, visual search capabilities and personalised recommendations in a single platform.
Google Pay Gets a New Discover Section
The new shopping experience introduces a dedicated Discover section within the Google Pay app. Users can browse personalised fashion content, explore apparel collections and discover products based on their preferences.
The feature is powered by Google’s Shopping Graph, which contains information on more than 60 billion continually updated products.
Google is also integrating visual search technology, virtual try-on capabilities and YouTube videos to help users explore fashion trends and make informed shopping decisions.
Try Clothes Virtually Before Buying
One of the major highlights of the new experience is the virtual try-on feature.
Users can preview how selected clothing items might look and fit on them before making a purchase. The technology allows shoppers to visualise how different outfits appear and drape on their bodies.
Google also plans to introduce pre-generated daily looks, offering outfit suggestions and styling inspiration to users.
Find Similar Fashion Products Using Photos
The new experience includes a visual search feature that allows users to discover similar fashion products using images.
For example, if someone likes an outfit seen on social media or worn by another person, they can take a photograph or upload an existing image to find visually similar products available across the web.
This could make fashion shopping easier for users who want to recreate trending styles without manually searching for individual products.
How to Access the New Shopping Feature
According to Google, the new shopping experience is currently available only to select users as part of its pilot programme.
Users can check availability by updating Google Pay to the latest version and looking for the Discover icon at the bottom of the app.
Once users find a product they like, they can tap on it to visit the merchant’s website and complete their purchase using their preferred payment method.
Google has not announced a timeline for the wider rollout of the feature across India.
