Bajaj General Insurance has appointed Deepak Reddy as CEO-designate from January 1, with plans for him to take over as Managing Director and CEO from April 1, 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
New Delhi, October 23 — Bajaj General Insurance, formerly known as Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, has announced the appointment of Deepak Reddy as CEO-designate, effective January 1.
The company said Reddy is expected to take charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from April 1, 2027, subject to approval from insurance regulator IRDAI.
Current Managing Director and CEO Tapan Singhel will continue in his role until March 31, 2027, ensuring a smooth transition in leadership.
Bajaj General Insurance is an unlisted subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv Ltd.
Commenting on the transition, Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv, highlighted Singhel’s contribution to building the insurer into a strong institution.
He said the company has developed a reputation for underwriting discipline, innovation and customer commitment under Singhel’s leadership.
Bajaj added that Singhel’s legacy extends beyond the growth of the business and includes the creation of an institution designed to sustain its performance over the long term.
The leadership change comes as India’s insurance sector enters another phase of expansion, supported by growing awareness, higher insurance penetration and increased demand for financial protection across households and businesses.
Sanjiv Bajaj said the opportunity to protect more lives, livelihoods and businesses in India remains significant.
He added that Deepak Reddy is expected to lead Bajaj General Insurance through its next phase of development.
The transition will therefore take place over several months, giving the incoming CEO time to work alongside the current leadership before formally assuming the top role.
The appointment is subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, as required for senior leadership positions at insurance companies.
Bajaj General Insurance operates across multiple general insurance segments and has built a significant presence in India’s non-life insurance market.
The leadership transition will be closely watched as the company positions itself for growth amid changing regulations, digitalisation and increased competition across India’s insurance industry.
