India’s Sachin Sarjerao Khilari defended his Asian Para Games title in the men’s shot put F46 event with a Games record throw of 15.87 metres, leading an Indian clean sweep of the podium.
Aichi-Nagoya, October 21 — Indian para-athlete Sachin Sarjerao Khilari won the gold medal in the men’s shot put F46 event at the Asian Para Games 2026, successfully defending the title he had won at the previous edition.
Khilari sealed the top spot with his sixth and final throw of 15.87 metres, setting a new Games record.
The mark improved on the previous Games record of 15.67 metres.
India dominated the event by taking all three medals.
Mohammed Yasser won the silver medal with a throw of 15.06 metres, while Parveen secured bronze with a best effort of 14.94 metres.
The result gave India a complete podium sweep in the men’s F46 shot put competition.
Khilari entered the Asian Para Games as one of India’s leading medal contenders.
He had won the gold medal at the previous Asian Para Games and followed that performance with a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
His latest victory continues a strong run in major international para-athletics competitions.
The F46 classification is designed for athletes with a single above- or below-elbow amputation or an equivalent upper-limb impairment.
Competitors perform from a standing position and generate much of their throwing power through their hips and legs.
Khilari’s 15.87m throw came under pressure in the final round and proved enough not only to win gold but also to rewrite the Asian Para Games record.
The podium sweep also underlined India’s growing depth in para field events, with three Indian athletes finishing ahead of the rest of the field.
The result added another major medal to India’s campaign at the Asian Para Games 2026 and reinforced Khilari’s status as one of the country’s most consistent para-athletes.
