Maruti Suzuki Nexa Eyes Recovery After Slow Quarters as Premium Car Demand Improves
Maruti Suzuki’s premium retail network, Nexa, is looking to regain growth momentum after experiencing a slowdown in recent quarters. The company is focusing on its premium vehicle portfolio, improved production capacity and changing customer preferences to strengthen its position in India’s competitive passenger vehicle market.
Nexa, launched in 2015, was designed to offer customers a more premium car-buying experience. The network sells models including the Baleno, Fronx, Grand Vitara and XL6.
Nexa Sales Declined in FY26
According to JATO Dynamics data reported by ETBrandEquity, Nexa’s contribution to Maruti Suzuki’s overall sales declined to 27.6% in FY26 from 30.8% in the previous financial year.
Its sales volumes also dropped from 5,43,050 units in FY25 to 5,03,881 units in FY26. The decline came despite continued demand for premium passenger vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki executives attributed the weaker performance partly to production capacity constraints rather than a lack of consumer interest.
Strong SUV Demand Offers Support
Recent sales figures suggest improving demand for some of Maruti Suzuki’s popular vehicles.
In September 2026, the Fronx recorded sales of 19,282 units, representing a 40% increase compared with the same month last year.
The broader compact SUV segment also reported strong growth, indicating continued consumer interest in utility vehicles.
Festive Season Boosts Confidence
Maruti Suzuki has also reported encouraging demand during the festive season.
The company’s Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales, Partho Banerjee, said retail sales between Ganesh Chaturthi and Dussehra increased by around 35% year-on-year.
Maruti Suzuki’s pending bookings increased from approximately 2 lakh at the beginning of October to 2.7 lakh after Dussehra. The company expects double-digit retail sales growth over the overall festive season through Diwali.
Focus on Premium Customer Experience
Alongside vehicle sales, Maruti Suzuki is working on upgrading the Nexa customer experience through its proposed Nexa 2.0 initiative.
The strategy includes technology-led services and greater engagement with younger buyers.
Improved vehicle availability, a refreshed retail experience and demand for premium models could support Nexa’s recovery in the coming quarters. However, sustained growth will depend on production capacity, competition and consumer demand.
