itel 2165C Brings PhonePe Payments to Feature Phone Users
New Delhi, October 23, 2026: itel has announced PhonePe support for its 2165C feature phone, allowing users to access digital payment services without an internet connection. The move aims to expand UPI accessibility among millions of 2G customers who continue to use basic mobile phones instead of smartphones.
The collaboration combines PhonePe’s digital payment platform with itel’s feature phone portfolio, helping more consumers participate in India’s growing digital payments ecosystem.
The company said the initiative is designed to make digital transactions more accessible, particularly for customers who rely on feature phones for everyday communication.
Expanding UPI Access Beyond Smartphones
India’s digital payment ecosystem has expanded significantly in recent years, but many feature phone users still face limitations in accessing digital financial services.
By introducing PhonePe support on the itel 2165C, the company aims to bridge this gap and provide a more convenient payment experience for users without mobile internet access.
Commenting on the development, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO of itel India, said the company remains focused on bringing practical technology to everyday consumers.
He added that PhonePe support on the 2165C would make daily transactions more convenient while helping more people participate in India’s digital economy.
Battery, Display and Other Features
The itel 2165C comes with a 2-inch display and a 1200mAh battery. It includes AI Battery and Super Battery modes designed to improve battery performance.
According to the company, the device delivers up to 11.67 hours of talk time and up to 25 days of standby time.
The feature phone supports 10 Indian languages, making it accessible to customers across different regions.
Other features include wireless FM radio with recording, automatic call recording, Bluetooth connectivity and expandable storage of up to 32GB.
The phone also includes a Type-C charging port and can store up to 2,000 contacts and 500 messages.
Strong Retail and Service Network
itel said it has a presence across more than 1.3 lakh retail outlets and over 1,000 service centres in India.
The company’s extensive distribution and service network is expected to support its efforts to bring affordable communication and digital payment capabilities to a wider customer base.
However, the company has not specified the exact payment process, transaction limits or availability timeline for the PhonePe integration
