HCLTech Expands Climate Action Grant to 24 Countries, Offers $500,000 to Winner
New Delhi, October 27, 2026: Indian IT services major HCLTech has announced the global expansion of its flagship Climate Action Grant programme to 24 countries, aiming to support more non-profit organisations working to address climate change, restore ecosystems and protect biodiversity.
The expansion marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to encourage community-driven environmental solutions and strengthen its global sustainability initiatives.
From Americas to Global Expansion
HCLTech launched its Climate Action Grant programme in the Americas in 2023, initially committing $5 million over five years to eligible non-profit organisations across 10 countries.
Over the past three editions, the company has distributed $3 million to support environmental projects. Following the response to the initiative, HCLTech has decided to expand its geographical reach.
The programme will now cover countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam, among others.
$500,000 Grant for Winning Organisation
Under the expanded programme, the winning non-profit organisation will receive $500,000, while three runners-up will be awarded $250,000 each.
The winners will be selected through a screening process and announced on June 5, 2027, coinciding with World Environment Day.
Dr Nidhi Pundhir, Global Head of CSR at HCLTech, said innovative climate solutions can emerge from any community and potentially create an impact beyond their place of origin.
She added that expanding the programme globally would help locally developed ideas reach a wider audience and create opportunities for greater environmental impact.
HCLTech Targets Net-Zero by 2040
HCLTech has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 as part of its long-term sustainability strategy.
The company has also been included in TIME’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies list for the second consecutive year.
In FY26, it retained its EcoVadis Gold rating and MSCI AA ESG rating for the second consecutive year.
Environmental Initiatives Impact 8.8 Million Lives
According to the company, its CSR initiatives implemented through the HCL Foundation in India have positively impacted more than 8.8 million people, including 54% women.
The initiatives have also contributed to planting over 3.6 million saplings, greening approximately 74,000 acres of land and harvesting more than 155 billion litres of water.
The expanded grant programme is expected to help environmental organisations scale locally developed climate solutions across international markets.
