A week after placing them on a list of banned export items, India has decided to allow again the shipments of surgical & disposable masks & some gloves, as per the Directorate General of Foreign Trade notification. The ban was a consequence of the country reporting the first case of the coronavirus outbreak late in January.
Exports of gloves made from nitrile rubber and masks other than two and three-ply, will nonetheless, continue to be restricted. It is being suggested that the removal of the ban could lift shares of companies that produce protective masks and equipment.
