Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister for IT and Electronics, announced the expansion of the Digital India programme. This expansion is set to receive an infusion of INR 14,903 crore over the next five years, covering the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

The core of this expansion centres on an ambitious initiative to train a staggering 5,25,000 IT professionals, positioning them as leaders in the rapidly evolving technological landscape. This strategic effort aims to equip these professionals with the necessary tools and expertise to effectively navigate the digital realm.

At the same time, there is a plan for thorough cybersecurity training to provide empowerment to 2,65,000 individuals, bolstering India’s defenses against the escalating cyber threats that have unquestionably become a prominent feature of the modern era.

In a remarkable advancement aimed at enhancing citizen-centric services, the widely used Umang mobile application is about to undergo a significant makeover. The range of services available via Umang is anticipated to expand by an astounding 540, escalating the total from its current count of 1,700 to an unparalleled scale. This expansion aims to redefine the availability of vital government services for numerous users across the country.
