The Rajasthan Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, approved the Civil Aviation Policy, 2024, and announced the development of a Greenfield Airport in Kota and an Aerocity in Jaipur. This policy aims to enhance regional air travel connectivity and boost tourism. Infrastructure projects, including hotels and restaurants, will be developed near Jaipur airport. Several state airports will offer cargo services, and old airstrips will be revamped for flying.

Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore highlighted the policy’s focus on expanding aviation training and maintenance facilities, with three new flying schools planned in Kishangarh, Jhalawar, and Bhilwara.

The Cabinet also approved significant infrastructure development in the aviation and energy sectors and proposed amendments to state policies and rules, including the abolition of the Gandhi Vatika Trust, which manages the Mahatma Gandhi Museum in Jaipur.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel announced the Cabinet’s decision to name three government colleges in Churu, Barmer, and Bikaner districts after donors who provided buildings for these institutions. The state government aims to achieve self-reliance in power generation, with signed MoUs worth Rs 2.25 crore in the energy sector.

The Cabinet approved amendments to the Renewable Energy Policy, 2023, and the Rajasthan Land Revenue (Allotment for Renewable Energy Projects) Rules, 2007, to attract further investment.

The amendments are expected to bring in an additional Rs 2 lakh crore in investments. Lands for solar power generation plants can now be allotted at 7.5% of the DLC rates. The Gandhi Vatika museum operations will continue under the relevant administrative departments.
