PM to inaugurate EDFC’s section

The “New Bhaupur-New Khurja” section, a part of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), would be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on December 29. The cost of the 351 km long ‘New Bhaupur-New Khurja section’ is ₹ 5,750 crore. The section would help in reducing the crowd on Delhi-Kanpur mainline and will enable Indian Railways to run faster trains.

Many industries such as pottery products of Khurja, asafoetida production of Hathras, glassware industry of Firozabad, and dairy sector of Auraiya would get benefitted from new opportunities that would open up through the opening of the section. The PM will also inaugurate the operational control centre of EDFC at Prayagraj in the event. The inaugurations would be done via video conferencing.

The EDFC (1,856 km long) begins from Sahnewal near Ludhiana, Punjab, and will end at Dankuni, West Bengal. Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) is constructing the EDFC railway. Other than this, DFCCIL is also building Western Dedicated Freight Corridor which will connect Nehru Port in Mumbai to Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.
