PM Gati Shakti initiative launched
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has launched a National Master Plan to boost ‘multi-model connectivity’. The initiative named PM Gati Shakti is a GIS-based platform having 600 layers. It will capture utilities and network linkages across various economic clusters. The aim is to maintain quality infrastructure that can fast track development and economic competitiveness on the economy.
This new initiative of the government will complement National Infrastructure Pipeline and government’s efforts to generate resources for it such as National Monetization Pipeline and Development Finance Institution (DFI). During an inauguration ceremony of new exhibition complex at Pragati Maidan, Modi said that Gati Shakti will reduce the logistic costs, reduce turnaround time and will improve cargo handling capacity. He said, “Just as JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhar, Mobile) trinity revolutionised the access of government facilities to the people , PM Gati Shakti will do the same for the field of infrastructure.”
Welcoming the new initiative, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said, “This programme leverages the power of digitization, it uses multi-layered geo-spatial information to generate real-time dashboards, MRS reports and 3D images. I cannot think of any other government programme, anywhere in the world of such a large scale and technology to enable real-time monitoring of large-scale development projects.”
