Recent findings from International Air Transport Association (IATA) suggest that India’s domestic air passenger volume grew at one of the fourth fastest rate among the major aviation markets such as Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Russia and the US. However, when it comes to the actual figures, this translated into a mere 3.7% yoy hike in Aug’19 and 8.9% rise in July’19. This monthly drop has been attributed to the economic slowdown which is impacting the country. The other top 3 countries which outperformed India in August’19 were China at 10.1%, Russian Federation at 6% and the US at 3.9%.
