Kerala, along with Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, ranked among the top performers for promoting ease of doing business, under Centre’s Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP). Kerala moved up from 28th to 15th place in just two years, excelling in business-centric and citizen-centric reforms.
According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry, Kerala, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, is ranked as the top performer under the Centre’s Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP). These rankings highlight their efforts to enhance the ease of doing business.
Kerala made a significant leap from 28th place two years ago to 15th in the last financial year. The state secured the title of “country leader” in two categories of business-centric reforms and seven categories of citizen-centric reforms. Kerala led in reforms focused on facilitating utility permits for businesses and streamlining tax payments.
Kerala’s industries minister, P. Rajeeve, credited the success to a coordinated approach across departments. The state’s introduction of composite licenses for industries and fast-tracking of clearances played a key role in improving its business environment.
At the ‘Udyog Samagam’ event, Union commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal commended the states for sharing best practices and fostering healthy competition to improve ease of doing business rankings.
