India’s tea exports rise by 11.5% in April

As per data computed by Tea Board India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, India’s tea exports increased by 11.5% to 17.93 million kg in April’19 as compared to 16.08 million kg for the same month in 2018. The findings of the provisional data suggest that the price realization per kg of tea at Rs 223.83 was 16.57% higher than Rs 192.01 a kg fetched in April’18. In value terms, too, there was a 30% hike approximately from Rs 308.76 crore in April 2018 to Rs 401.32 crore.

 While tea exports to Pakistan & UK rose marginally, there was a marginal decline in exports to Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Exports to Iran, however, shot up drastically from 1.68 million kg to 4.92 million kg during the same period.
