India’s goods and services exports surpassed US$ 820 billion in 2024-25, reflecting a nearly 6% increase compared to the previous fiscal year, despite ongoing global challenges. The merchandise exports reached US$ 395.63 billion during April–February 2024-25, showing a slight rise from US$ 395.38 billion in the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, service exports are estimated at US$ 354.90 billion, up from US$ 311.05 billion recorded during April–February 2023-24.
India’s goods and services exports crossed US$ 820 billion in the fiscal year 2024-25, registering nearly 6% growth over the US$ 778 billion recorded in 2023-24, despite a challenging global environment. The commerce ministry shared this milestone during a high-level meeting chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, held with export promotion councils and industry bodies.
The meeting was convened to discuss current global trade developments, particularly the imposition of high tariffs by the US, and to explore new opportunities and strategies to support Indian exporters. Export promotion councils shared their insights and concerns regarding the evolving global trade landscape, and urged the government to take proactive steps to strengthen the export ecosystem. The ministry assured stakeholders of the government’s commitment to creating a supportive trade environment and helping exporters navigate global uncertainties.
While the overall annual export figures show strong growth, exports remained in negative territory for the fourth consecutive month in February 2025 due to ongoing global economic challenges. Between April and February of 2024-25, India’s merchandise exports amounted to US$ 395.63 billion, showing only a slight increase from US$ 395.38 billion during the same period in the previous year. In contrast, services exports showed strong performance, rising to an estimated US$ 354.90 billion from US$ 311.05 billion in April-February 2023-24.
CIM Goyal praised Indian exporters and industry players for achieving the highest-ever export levels despite several headwinds, including the Red Sea crisis, the Israel-Hamas conflict impacting the Gulf region, the prolonged Russia-Ukraine war, and slowdowns in major global economies.
The commerce ministry will release detailed data on exports and imports for the fiscal year 2024-25 on April 15, 2025.
