Goenka Group of Industries (GGI) is all set to introduce Sona Masoori Rice, Organic Sona Masoori Rice, and Rice suitable for Diabetics (low GI Index Rice) in different packaging sizes ranging between 5 kgs, 10 kgs and 20 kgs, under their flagship brand, ANMOL.
Typically cultivated in the fields of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, Sona Masuri rice (bangaru theegalu) is light weighted, aromatic, premium variety medium grain rice ( size about 5 mm ). This premium variety is a blend of the rice varieties Sona and Mahsuri. It is unpolished and therefore considered to be a powerhouse of nutrients as compared to Basmati, which might lose some of its nutritional value during processing. It is also a great choice for weight watchers as it has less starch and lower calories than Basmati.
GGI is producing Organic Sona Masoori through contract farming, providing complete support to farmers and buying back the paddy (organic) with certification and complete traceability. This end-to-end traceability imparts confidence in customers about the quality of the product. Meanwhile, rice suitable for diabetics has a low glycemic index, making it a preferred option for those with sugar.
