Swiggy’s 2024 report unveils India’s unwavering love for food, with Biryani reigning supreme for the ninth consecutive year and regional delicacies retaining their charm. From midnight Chicken Burgers to record-breaking pasta orders, the report highlights a vibrant mix of tradition and evolving tastes.

Biryani retained its crown as India’s most beloved dish, with 83 million orders recorded on Swiggy this year, averaging an impressive 158 orders per minute. This marks the ninth consecutive year of its dominance, reflecting its enduring popularity.
According to Swiggy’s report, Dosa also emerged as a culinary favorite, with 23 million orders showcasing its widespread appeal.
In 2024, a Bengaluru consumer made headlines by spending Rs 49,900 on pasta, indulging in 55 Alfredo dishes, 40 Mac & Cheese plates, and 30 servings of Spaghetti. Dinner emerged as the “Bahubali” of mealtimes, with 215 million orders, a significant 29% more than lunch orders.
Bengaluru stayed true to its culinary roots, consuming 2.5 million Masala Dosas. Meanwhile, other cities embraced their traditional delicacies, with Delhi opting for Chole, Chandigarh favoring Aloo Parantha, and Kolkata enjoying Kachoris, the report noted.
India’s snack preferences also stood out, with the Chicken Roll taking the lead as the most-ordered snack in 2024, amassing 2.48 million orders. Close behind were Chicken Momos with 1.63 million orders, while Potato Fries secured their place with 1.3 million orders, proving they are more than just a side dish in India’s vibrant snack culture.
“Chicken Burger emerged as the ultimate midnight indulgence,” with 1.84 million orders placed between 12–2 AM. Chicken Biryani also retained its status as a round-the-clock favorite, continuing its reign as a dish cherished at any hour.
Swiggy’s report highlights not just the diversity of India’s culinary preferences but also its evolving trends, blending traditional favorites with modern cravings in the dynamic food delivery space.
