Adani Group launches green hydrogen blending in Ahmedabad

The Adani Group is taking a significant step towards sustainable energy by blending green hydrogen into natural gas supplies for households in Ahmedabad. This innovative project, launched by Adani Total Gas Ltd in collaboration with TotalEnergies, aims to cut emissions and support net-zero targets, paving the way for cleaner energy solutions in urban areas.

Green Hydrogen

The Adani Group has begun blending green hydrogen into the natural gas supplied to households in Ahmedabad to reduce emissions and meet net-zero targets. Adani Total Gas Ltd, a joint venture with TotalEnergies, has initiated this process by incorporating 2.2-2.3% green hydrogen into piped natural gas supplies in the Shantigram area.

This green hydrogen, produced through renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, undergoes electrolysis to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. The blended gas not only generates heat and power but also results in lower emissions compared to conventional natural gas usage.

Adani-Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) expressed excitement over the successful commissioning of their Hydrogen Blending System and in-situ Hydrogen Generation at Adani Shantigram, Ahmedabad. The project aims to deliver uninterrupted hydrogen-blended natural gas to 4,000 domestic and commercial consumers, showcasing a significant step toward sustainable energy solutions and reduced environmental impact in the region. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote cleaner energy alternatives and contribute to the country’s environmental goals.
