QR codes are quick response codes are- machine-readable arrays of black and white codes that reveal stored information when scanned with a reader. They are fundamental to customer-initiated interactions, as they turn physical points in the customer journey into two-way communication channels that promote engagement and provide valuable insights into consumer behaviour.
With nine in ten users engaging with QR codes weekly, the real significance lies not in frequency but in intent. The QR codes have evolved into a trusted, go-to tool that customers actively seek to access information, entertainment, and services on their own terms. They are no longer just a convenience—they’re an expectation. The QR ecosystem has evolved across all key touch points. The leading QR touchpoints include: Product Packaging (68%), Mobile Payment Apps (68%), Loyalty Programs (61%), Informational Use (57%), Advertisements (54%), Security & Authentication (54%), and Restaurant Menu (52%).
According to the report, QR code interactions result in three-to-four times higher engagement rates on linked pages, with 95% of businesses using these engagements to collect first-party data. The report also highlights QR codes’ widespread adoption, future applications, and value-generation potential.
Sharat Potharaju, co-founder and CEO of Uniqode emphasized that QR codes offer real value by connecting users with relevant information, exclusive benefits, and loyalty incentives.
